Steed Home Restoration, Inc.
Steed Home Restoration was founded in 1995, priding themselves as an unequaled company with a strong real estate, landscape and architectural background. After 7 years of working with realtors, landscape-architects, master-builders and other various tradesmen I, Jason C. Steed, felt a strong need to start a unique company that would act and work with clients as a single source specialist.
From initial consultation, to final c.o. (certificate of occupancy) and beyond, Steed Home Restoration, Inc. is a local company with a historic and environmental feel for building and personal integrity. We work with our clients from the start, seeking the best way to integrate your home or project into our coveted residential landscape.
If necessary, all sub-contractors are hand-picked companies with proper credentials that have the same feel for your project as I, Jason C. Steed, owner and president of Steed Home Restoration, Inc.
Steed Home Restoration, Inc. continually looks to preserve our history by recycling what we can and reusing architectural details that lend authenticity and charm to a home in creative and original ways. We also realize the importance of continually keeping ourselves current in new and environmentally friendly ways to lower annual energy costs while upgrading to modern safety standards.
From new builds, historic restorations, renovations, additions, custom woodwork, kitchen and baths and all unique projects in between, Steed Home Restoration, Inc. is a leader and innovator in this industry.

Frequently Asked Questions
What are the beneifts of new home construction?
The main benefit of new home costruction is your ability to choose your own design, style, and layout. You also have the ability to choose your own property and the layout on that property.
How do you charge for your services?
As a builder/designer our fees can either be hourly or by the job. We work with the client to get the best price on materials and subcontractors. Not many people realize that in New York a written contract is required on any work that exceeds $500. This protects both parties and keeps the project running smooth without major suprises that can arise during the project, especially renovation projects.
Are all builders basically the same?
As in any idustry, you'll find a wide range of vendors. Each builder has his/her own style of architecture and quality standards. Be sure to check on your builders reputation and make sure that they are currently covered for general liability, workers compensation, and are certified to work on your home. It is especially important to get the best quality builder for homes built prior to 1978 due to new laws set by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).
Do I need a contract?
Absolutely. No matter the size of the project, a reputable contractor should always prepare a written contract, which should be read, understood, and signed by all parties.

Testimonials
I hired Jason and his crew to help us with a renovation. My wife and I were getting ready to sell our property, so we were on a tight budget, and wanted a job that would be universally appealing to everyone. We had done most of the construction on our house up to this point, both as a cost saving measure, and because we are handy and able to do it.
Our home was unconventional and had a few quirks that we were hoping to resolve, and the renovation involved a mix of new construction, demolition and remodeling. Jason came into our place without an ego at all, listened to what we wanted and contributed some great ideas. He was very contentious about keeping his crew busy, and organized his time so they were very productive during their time at our place.
Since we were living there at the same time, we were pleased that they were very respectful of our space, and always left a tidy workplace. In the end, we were very happy with the job done and that it worked in our budget. Jason was creative in his solutions and extremely capable and ready to tackle anything. He contributed to design solutions, made sensible material choices and even offered to do the work on a very high, steep roof, when no one else wanted to.
We were grateful to have Jason and would recommend him to anyone.

Jason Steed came into our lives shortly after we moved to Pine Plains, doing a number of renovations and improvements on and about our house. He wasskilled, versatile and showed excellent good taste in his suggestions and executions. As a result, we sat down with him ten years ago to talk about an entertainment and guest bam to sit on a wooded slope above our house, knowing that, while he had done all the individual jobs separately, he had never built a complete house from foundation to those final interior touches.
Throughout the job Jason was a reservoir of good ideas, from labor saving ways of doing things to the construction of fine mouldings, melding anumber of architectural artifacts into a consistent whole. This building has drawn nothing but praise from visitors in the ten years since. Subsequently, on our recommendation, Jason was engaged to undertake a complete reconstruction and restoration of a late is" century farmhouse, a job he successfully completed with painstaking care and great skill. Were we ever to build another house, Jason would be our builder.
